Supergreen Bait and Switch

My ideological view of the Internets has finally been shattered. It is riddled with slimy, greasy, shady business just as any other business you may find out on the street. Their are advertises, salesman, and shady sharks just like the real world. I always new on a subconscious level that this was the case. But, I finally got my first taste of reality when I tried out a 'Top' web hosting company called SuperGreenHosting.Com. For the sake of search engines, I will put a few key word search phrases:

SuperGreenHosting.Com support sucks
SuperGreenHosting.Com complaint
SuperGreenHosting.Com deceptive
SuperGreenHosting.Com waste of money
SuperGreenHosting.Com bad reviews
SuperGreenHosting.Com worst web hosting company
SuperGreenHosting.Com is a fake
SuperGreenHosting.Com bait and switch

The reasons for these reviews? The first reason is that I found that all the search results have been faked. Not that Yahoo.Com and Google.Com are providing fake search results. It is that this company has been able to create enough websites to pad the top 20 search results. It makes it appear as if this site is in the Top 10 or Top 20 web hosting companies, when it isn't.

I have had several dealings with their customer support. It has been one of the worst technical supports I've run into so far in my life dealing with technical support. From everything from web hosting companies, to your usual banking web site technical support, to computer hardware technical support. The support staff are your typical techie support staff. Zero customer service training. They talk down to you with the most arrogant, condescending, know it all attitude I have come across. It wouldn't be so bad if they actually new what they were talking about. But, one of my pet peeves is talking to technical support that knows less about their product than I do.

My first web hosting company was another, much larger, company. I won't say which one here, only because I don't like promoting the biggest company in any industry. I believe in small business and competition, not monolopies. Any company that gets to big can do more harm to the end customer. But, comparing SuperGreenHosting.Com hosting tools to this other company, I found SuperGreenHosting.com tools to be clunky, buggy, and not user friendly. Their webmail service looks like they took an open source service and made it part of their set of tools that they offer. And they didn't even get a decent webmail application. There are much more feature rich and user friendly webmail applications. But, it looks like SuperGreenHosting.com took the path of what was easiest to the their technical staff without any regard for their customers.

The last reason for my criticism of SuperGreenHosting.Com is that their 'image' of being a green hosting is a scam. There is no accountability or proof that any of their activities is truly in support of 'Green' philosophies. The only 'Green' practice is using energy efficient servers. Most companies already do this because it is economical. I was expecting that their server farms would be powered by solar or hydro power. But they are not. What's even worse, is that this is really just another 'brand' of the JustHost.com web hosting company. It's a complete sham. They decided to get a domain name with the word "green" in it, change their logo, change a few web pages, and have a green color them with plants and trees. It's a complete fake, meant to lure unsuspecting, trusting, and naive consumers in search for better alternatives. But, it was all a deception.

I have not found a web hosting company that is truly "green." Companies like Google, who actually build their server farms near hydro power plants are much "greener." If you have chosen this company, because of their "green" ethics, I'm very sorry to day, that you've been had, just as I was.
